Secret Kitchen brings to the city of Melbourne a Chinese dining experience the like of which you won’t find anywhere else in the state. Combining traditional flavours with innovative techniques, an extensive variety of menu items and an incomparable atmosphere, Secret Kitchen offers its guests an inimitable feasting experience.
Founded in 2007, Secret Kitchen has grown into a reputed leader on Melbourne’s culinary scene. Under the restaurant’s umbrella group, China Bar, Secret Kitchen is well-known around the city for its authentic and exemplary Chinese cuisine. Its rich array of culinary delights merges tradition with innovation, offers high standards in presentation and quality, and genuine service from the heart. To top it off, the restaurant boasts Melbourne’s largest live seafood aquarium at its inner city location, offering the freshest and most extensive array of seafood for an unparalleled and unforgettable experience.
Secret Kitchen’s menu has a strong focus on offering creative flavour combinations and dishes made using the highest quality ingredients and fresh, locally sourced seafood. Among the treasures on the menu you will find authentic yum cha, aromatic herbal soups, crowd-pleasing dumplings and succulent meat platters. Expand your food horizons and try something you’ve never tasted before, be it spicy chicken feet, marinated pork tripe, braised oxtail or pork knuckle, signature roast goose, squid ink steamed buns with sea cucumber, or deep fried durian puffs…
And, of course, with its spectacular aquarium, expect a plethora of delicious and rare seafood dishes – braised Australian abalone, shark fin and ginseng soup, sautéed crab with black truffle, fiery Szechuan fish, and – if you really want to treat yourself – try the infamous whole lobster with king prawns and shark fin in superior broth. (Be prepared though – this dish must be ordered one day in advance, serves 10 people and costs $1688.) The excellent food menu is complemented by a wine list featuring premium local and international wines, including Penfold’s Grange, and an ever-changing selection of exclusive reserved wines.
Executive chef Min and head dim sum chef Xiang are the talented duo behind Secret Kitchen’s menu, each with innovative dishes to their names that have won multiple nationally recognised awards in China.
